21 months flew by fast

It's hard to believe a whole 21 months have passed!  (Yes, I realize I'm still aging them in months, I will stop...at some point...or not.)  Let's see what you guys are doing at this milestone....

Sophia's new favorite book is "Mama's Little Bears", it's actually my new favorite book as well. Especially this one page where the little bears are looking for their mama, there's one word on that page: "MAMA!" and I let her read that part.  She shouts it perfectly as soon as I point to it, I want to die laughing, it's so stinkin cute, but I just giggle to myself so she doesn't think I'm weird.  She's getting close to saying Jacob's name....the progression has been fun.  It started out "Dub-dub", then "Jay-tub", now it's "Day-jub".   :-)   She is chatty Kathy, too!  Still very choppy in her sentences, she usually says 1 word at a time & waits for me to acknowledge before she continues...she has the funniest little conversations.  She also says "May-men" after we pray every night, so cute!  Last but not least, she started giving me this super tight hug before bed time. We've always done goodnight kisses and I would usually squeeze her tight before laying her down to bed...now she squeezes me before she tries to lay herself down.  What a big girl.  Love it.  :)

Jacob is a lil hugger, too.  He likes to hug books and the tv, anytime there is an animal he likes.  Right now, it's all about "Dats" (cats).  That's what he did today (hugged the tv) when he saw a cat on one of his DVDs.  He is all boy when it comes to his toys....loves his cars and trucks...rolls them everywhere.  Even Sophia knows they are "Day-jubs".  We have probably 10 or so small cars, all different types that either one of them can play with, she just brings them to him.  (Well, she does take the one he's playing with from time to time, just to annoy him) but other than that is not interested.  He likes climbing up on our "big" table now and helping himself to Dada's water (tastes better when it's not in a sippy cup!) Sophia will copy him and try to get in "my" chair, but I don't think it would ever occur to her if he was not constantly doing it.  Have I mentioned his obsession with Bush's baked beans???  I was relieved we skipped a whole day w/out having them and there was no drama at the high chair....whew!  Lastly, thought I'd note one of our favorite games!  "Touch the door" (or the chair, or the wall)...Jacob is SOOO enthusiastic about doing it and running at top speed to the object and back to me.  He literally darts to me I have to catch him or he lands face down in carpet. Sophia gets bored after a couple times, but he could do this quite a while! ha ha

They are such characters....Happy 21 months, little bears. Mama loves you!!

Baby Talk

Sometimes I worry Jacob & Sophia *might* be a little late in talking...they are 20 months old and they can say a lot of words, more and more every day and they also sign a lot.  But most of what they say verbally still sounds like baby talk.  I know I should keep reinforcing the correct way to say things so they learn and I do...but I am also not in a hurry for this phase to end.  Is that bad?  :)  I mean.....you have to admit, "Kaaa" is a much cooler word than Sock.  And how cute is "Num-na" for milk?  (still wonder how they came up with that one)  The list goes on....."Faa" (is not a long, long way to go...it's a leaf) ha ha, but I have talked about that one already!  "Dub-dub" (Jacob), "Weewee" (kiwi) "CawCaw" is many words actually...you have to listen to the context!  It can mean coffee, cookie, or an acorn!  "Maaaa" is how Sophia says Barney, Jacob says "Baaaah".  They say many words pretty close though, like "Nack" for Snack" and so forth.  I still love the way Jacob says car and truck though..."Awe" and "Uck".  :)

Names are funny, too.  Hee hee.  Aunt Cindy is "Ninny" and Aunt Terry is "Teh-teh".  They once played a game with Grandpa, Nathan's dad, during a meal where he would say "Mmmmmmm" (referring to the yummy food) and they both mimicked that back to him....well now that is Grandpa's name.  Every time we say Grandpa, they respond "Mmmmmm"

Yup, I love this age!  Gotta get in bed now, also I need to put on some Kaaas, my feet are cold.

Halloween 2010

What an interesting, fun day this has been.  :)

My 2 little cows, hopefully having good dreams right now.  Took them trick or treating for the firs time tonight (19-1/2 months old).  Before that we went to Nana's house.  Where, she being Nana gave them their first Kit Kat.  :)  Might have guessed that was a winner!

We got dressed after dinner and went over to the Howards (who had a Toy Story theme goin on...very cute!)  My favorite theme of the night was our neighbor, Dan and his wife, Shannon....he had a suit on and she had night gown, their 4 yr old son was riding in a wagon with a check from publisher's clearing house!  So, I guess Dan was Ed McMann....and they won big.  ha ha!

Sissy, Jacob, Daddy & I hit about 4 houses, that was about all they could handle, they did not want to ride in the wagon and every few feet they had to stop & peek inside their goodie bag.  They did not quite understand why people were putting things in their bag but they were determined to see what it was and check several times to make sure it was still there.  They enjoyed examining the loot when we got home and after their bath, pretty much crashed.  :)  Fun night!

And now a quick note about them at 19 months:

Sophia is all about volunteering brother.  If I ask who gets a diaper change first, or who's first to wash their hands....she signs brother or just points to him.  She likes to pat people on the back.  If I'm on the floor (changing a diaper for instance on her brother), she'll come up behind me and pat me on the back, that's usually followed by a hug. She's so sweet!  And she *loves* counting, every time you start counting she holds out her "1" finger and then immediately jumps to an open hand, "Die!!" (five).  And for the first time yesterday, she shook her head no at watching "puppets" (Baby Einstein videos).  She wanted BARNEY!! (Who she calls "Maaaa" for some reason) She says hi and bu-bye to everyone...actually it's "I-I-I-", she says her hi's like I's and says it over & over.  :)  She' likes to say 'boo boo' at the tiniest cut or scrape on any part of her body, I think she likes showing off battle scars.  Funny Funny sissy.  Mommy's sweet princess.

Jacob is adding fun words to our vocabulary, like "Faaa" (leaf).  I love that! It's pretty funny that a month ago he was afraid of them....he hadn't noticed them til a few were scattered on his playhouse.  He was climbing up to slide one day, and he screamed and was pointing to the leaves.  I picked up the leaf to show it to him and he clung on tight to my neck, screaming.  I showed him how fun it is to blow it in the air and watch it fall.  Now that is what he likes to do with leaves, he brings them to me & starts blowing at them.  Faa's are cool.  He *loves* airplanes, they both do....but Jacob will stop what he is doing outside, sit down on the middle of the sidewalk and watch.  He also lets me know there is one outside if he hears it inside, in any room in the house. He loves trucks, big trucks are his favorite.  "Ehh Ehh" big truck horn. We hear that often.  :) He likes belly rides, (especially on Dada), I think cuz Dada screams louder (ha ha).  Also, I think he has a crush on Miss Leah, his Little Gym teacher. (above)  He gives her lots of hugs and the other day he went and sat in her lap while we were all sitting in a circle listening to her announcements.  Sweet, ticklish, handsome boy...mama loves you!  :)
